Point
3 points to consider when selecting a HIBAR pump
There are three selection methods for HIBAR pumps: dispensing volume, liquid viscosity, and drive system.
Unicontrols HIBAR pumps can meet any need
For example...
- To dispense a large amount (150 cc) of low viscosity (100 mPa.s (cps)) liquid.
- To control the dispense finely, but to set it easily with dedicated software.

CV＜Check Valve＞
Principle explanation
When the plunger retracts, negative pressure is generated in the volule measuring chamber, the check valve on the IN side opens, and material is sucked into the weighing chamber.
At this time, the check valve on the OUT side is closed by spring pressure. The suctioned material is weighed to the stroke set by the micrometer, and then the plunger moves forward to push out the material in the weighing chamber.
In this case, the check valve on the IN side closes, the check valve on the OUT side opens, and the material is discharged from the nozzle.
RV＜Rotary Valve＞
Principle explanation
Basically, it is the same as the CV type, but the suction/dispense switching function is a rotary valve, which rotates in synchronization with the movement of the plunger by the actuator.
When dispensing, the rotary valve rotates in time with the forward movement of the plunger, connecting the measuring chamber to the OUT side and discharging the material.
When the plunger moves forward, the rotary valve rotates and the material is dispensed.
3. Drive system
We will select the drive system that best suits the operating environment and application.
Pneumatic Driven type
This is a standard specification HIBAR pump suitable for use in explosion-proof environments or on production lines.
Motor Driven type
The HIBAR pump, motor, and controller (driver) are packaged in a single unit. Dispensing volume and speed can be easily set using a PC or external control device.
Servo-Motor Drive Type
The drive unit is engineered to match the servomotor selected by the customer and delivered ready for installation. This type is best suited for equipment manufacturers who coordinate the entire equipment.

Pneumatic Driven type
- Overview
- The Pneumatic Driven HIBAR pump adopts a volumetric metering system with a high-precision micrometer that ensures high-precision dispensing.
- Features
- ・The dispense volume can be easily changed with a high precision micrometer.
- ・The suitable dispensing condition can be obtained since suction / dispense speed can be adjusted independently.
- ・A wide variety of wetted part materials are available to meet the needs of all kinds of liquid dispensing.
- ・Two types of valves (check valve/rotary valve) are available to handle materials with low to high viscosity.
Motor Driven type
- Overview
- There are 2 types of Motor driven HIBAR pumps, the B series is stepper motor driven, while the H series is ROBO Cylinder motor driven.
- Features
- ・By making a HIBAR pump pulse motor driven, it can be operated at a steady speed from a low speed onwards, and by digitizing all the settings, they can also be easily set again.
- ・You can use a generic PC to easily enter and manage data.( Dedicated software: Windows version)
- ・A PC can be used to configure each pump as well as check its operation, and by connecting a teaching box to an H series pump(as an accessory), you can easily change the data as well as check the operation of the pump on-site.
- ・Since the actuator is separated from controller, it is easy to maintain and possible to control at a location other than the work environment.
- ・Stroke and speed settings can be made on a PC. Depending on the selected controller specifications, it is possible to create a program to change the settings with an external control device(PLC).
Servo-Motor Driven type
- Overview
- Design drive part to install selected servo motor
- Features
- ・By using a servo motor for the drive unit, each setting can be quantified and re-setting is easy.
- ・Stable operation at low speeds, which is difficult with pneumatic drive.
- ・The system can be easily interlocked with other equipment, making it ideal for machine builders who need to coordinate the entire system.
- ・Customers can easily customize the motor and controller to suit their application.
- ・By selecting motors that are easily procurable in the country of use, it is possible to reduce concerns about procurement of motors and control devices.
Selection of motor drive or servo motor drive
Motor Driven
Stepper motor driven type （STP-M drive） *Applicable to B series
This product is a set of a HIBAR pump, motor, and controller（driver）
･Since dedicated software is included, it is best suited for simple operation using a PC(Mode 1) or for external control of an existing Program(PLC, etc.).
ROBO Cylinder motor driven type （ROB-M drive） *Applicable to H series
This product is a set of a HIBAR pump, motor, and controller（driver）
・ROBO Cylinder motors (manufacturer's standard product) are used and best suited for control when installed in equipment, etc. A wide variety of controller I/O types are available.
Servo-Motor Driven
Servo-motor driven type （Servo-Motor drive） *Applicable to B series / H series
We design, manufacture, and deliver the drive unit of the pump body according to the servo motor selected by the customer.
･If you are considering high-speed filling, this type has superior torque and speed compared to the two types above.
・By using a motor selected by the customer and a controller(driver) suitable for the motor, this type is best suited for customer who wish to build their own program control (e.g., PLC).
・When used in an overseas factory, selecting a motor that is dis tributed locally will reduce the concern about procurement in case of motor failure.
